It's time.....

This month, Scrappin Kids will be celebrating
its 2nd birthday
How time had flies!

It had been a great 2 years with an awesome support
from scrappers around the world
and of course with a great crew in tow,
Scrappin Kids was such a blessed to have!

However, life had been a little overwhelming lately
with a new portfolio at work and
with Adam needing the constant attention,
it's a little challenging to manage Scrappin Kids

With a heavy heart, Scrappin Kids blog
will be closed by end October 2009
It is not an easy decision, but I think I should do it!
Of course, I will still be scrapping *no doubt*
and still be designing for other sites as well

I would like to express my deepest thanks
to every single scrappers out there
who had supported Scrappin Kids all these years
I had known a lot of scrappers thru Scrappin Kids
and I am trully grateful and blessed for that

There will be no challenge this month,
however I would like you share with me
what Scrappin Kids means to you
and do share with me your favourite layout
that was inspired by Scrappin Kids challenges

Do email me at scrappinkids4@yahoo.com.sg
or just post it at the comments section

Meanwhile, its not a goodbye from me for now
more of...SEE YOU SOON!!

Cheers!!
Wati Basri :)

SK Sketch #4

Sorry for the late posting for Aug challenge
This month we will be having a sketch challenge!

Here's SK Sketch #4 created by
our creative advisor, Jessy

The challenge is to do a layout based on the sketch
The layout has to be kids related
Designs are open to your interpretation
but still has to be recognisable

SK SKETCH #4

Here's the interpretation from the SK Crew

Issa

"Here's a page about my newest niece, Garrie
and my little boy Lorenzo
I was able to capture their bonding moment
Lorenzo just love her so much like a little sister!"

Pia

"Instead of using 3 photos as originally seen on the sketch,
I tweaked the sketch a bit by adding one more photo
Instead of putting a block of paper that is across the whole page,
I placed pieces of striped patterned papers
I replaced the staples wires with buttons

and since my title is quiet long,
the rest of the title had to be replaced
at the bottom of my pics"

Monique

"The title and the journalling is in Dutch
The title reads : the pacifier has to go!
Journalling is about Manon throwing away

the pacifier in exchange for the dolls baby buggy"

Wati

"I decided to flip this sketch and scrap
this simple moments of Adam & Chris
Using all scraps on this layout"

Do link your layout (on your blog) in the comments section

Challenge #18

Half a year of 2009 is gone,
how time flies!!!
After a summer break now its time to scrap about it!

MOMENTS CHALLENGE #18

Vacation or an outing is always fun for the kids
However, there are some moments that are not the most pleasant
Document the real story behind the photos that captures
your kid's personality right at that moment
Do include journalling as well

This month we will have the new SK Crew
sharing their interpretation on this challenge
A slight change in SK, only 4 members from the SK Crew
will showcase their layouts here every month
You will see different crews' layouts every month!!

Here are the lovely layouts from the SK Crew

RD Cookie

This photo was taken during our Baguio vacation
I remembered Harvey was so tired and wanted a short nap
You become so iritable and grouchy and just don't want to do anything
but to have the nap

Journalling
"I remember you were crying so hard that day
We were going to go out and visit places in Baguio,
but you were so sleepy that you began to cry
throwing tantrum at us!
Poor baby"

RD Michelle

For most of the time, Sean is a happy go lucky child
God forbid when he gets tired,
this child is most capable of throwing a tantrum in pubic
I apologise for the quality of photos taken but
it was so impromptu that I had just had time to snap snap only

We were busy that weekend
Sean help out in a charity bazaar the night before
and the next we had to wake up early for his art exhibition
which lasted 2 hours
As you can see he was getting tired
and when I made him finish his rice
he dissolved into tears!
sigh.....sometimes I wish that he realises
that he is no longer a baby

DT RIA

Journalling
"Celebrating Halloween in Disneyland was not what Bianca
expected it to be
Instead of happy,colourful characters,
she saw dark and scary creatures, esp at night
While waiting for dinner to be served, mommy, Luis and Nadya
stepped out to see the fireworks,
leaving Bianca and Daddy at the table
She was to scared to go out again but didn't want to be
left behind so just bawled her eyes  out
until we all got back in time for a spooky Halloween inspired dinner"

DT YATIE

Journalling
"When the Carnival Water Park just opened,
Me & Baba thought it would be fun to take you there
since you love everything water!
Boy we were wrong!!!
There were so many people and the music was too loud
that they were too confusing and disorienting for you
You had to cover your ears all the time and cried your eyes out
That sure thought us not to make assumptions about you!!"

New SK Crew

Firstly I would like to express
my deepest thanks
to the great DT team that had been with me
for the pass six months!!

Big Cheers to
Aniza, Wendy, Vivi & Yvette
You ladies had been a blast
inspiring us all these months....
keep on creating ladies :)

For the next half of the year
there is a slight change to the SK Crew

Let's welcome the very talented
Michelle Ku
to the Resident Designer team
She had been such a great inspiration to us
for the pass 6 months that I would love
to have her to continue to inspire us at SK!!
Congrats Mich :)

I had also appointed
Issa Lucido
as the SK DT Coordinator
She will be responsible coordinating with the SK Crew
to bring more fun at SK
Congrats Issa!!

Cookie, Jessy and myself will still be in the SK Crew!

During the last DT call, I had received a lot
of emails from talented scrappers around the world
Thank you to those who had applied
It was not easy for me, to pick the DTs
After much consideration, I would like
to introduce you to SK 4 new DTs
Congrats ladies!!
It's my pleasure to have you in the crew :)
Let's learn more about them
Monique Liedtke

"My name is Monique Liedtke,
I live in Netherlands and I'm a SAHM of 3 wonderful kids,
who are the main focus of my scrapping.
I've been married for almost 13 years to Patrick,
who is luckily very supportive to my scrapbooking addiction
I started scrapbooking  about 6 years ago
and become addicted straight away!
I love that scrapbooking gives me a creative outlet
and it makes me so much more "aware"
of every little thing that than I was before started scrapping
I don't really have one style, it depends very much on my mood
However I love machine stitching on my layouts
and I tend to use lots of details!
If you want to know more about me,
please visit my blog
I'm so honoured to be a part of this wonderful group
and looking forward to meeting all of you!!"

Pia Salem-Lopez

"Hi, I'm Pia from Philippines
I'm blessed with the two boys of my life,
namely my hubby Jeff, and my 4 year old son, Ethan
I've been creating and making pieces of history
for my family since 2005
My layouts are mostly about my son
but I make it a point to scrap about me & hubby too
I love to scrap using bold and bright colours on my layouts
My layouts and photos, if I may say,
scream with colours!!
And there's one embellishment that I couldn't live
without that would be buttons!!
For me, they are the perfect companions for my boys layouts
My layouts mirror my family's personality -
we're a crazy bunch, we love to laugh and play!

I'm so happy to be part of the Scrappin Kids Crew!"

Ria Mojica

"I'm Ria Mojica from the Philippines
and I'm excited to be part of the SK Crew!
I have been married to my soul mate, Buddy
for almost 10 years and have been a stay at home mom
to 3 kids, Luis, Nadya & Bianca for the last 7 years
I've always into crafts, but I never felt the rush
until I discovered scrapbooking in 2003
Scrapbooking opened a whole new world to me -
new friends, new achievements, new goals,
not to mention shopping!!
I love that it allows me to have a creative outlet
while recording my family's memories

I would describe my style as eclectic, only because
it varies depending on my mood, the photos or papers
that I'm working with or if I want to try something new
I prefer to do LOs that are about fun and happy everyday moments
I made an extra effort to make multi-photos pages
because I have so much to show
I love embellishments and trying out new tools and techniques
I have been making an effort to scrap simpler and use up my stash"

Yatie Tajudin

"Hi. My name is Yatie Tajudin and I'm from Malaysia
I'm a mother to a 7 year old girl
I've been scrapping since July 2007 and LOVE
every single thing about it
From the shopping, to the techniques,
to the placement of elements......
oh did I mention shopping??
Don't we all love shopping??

I have to say that I don't really have a specific style
but rather a mixture of everything,
depending on my mood when I'm scrapping
I also loved altered arts and just love to try
and experiment with different mediums on a project
But most of all what I love about scrapbooking
is the friends that I've made all over the world
Friends who share the same passion as I do
and understands that language!!!

I am so excited and honoured to be part of the Scrappin Kids Design team
and looking forward to be working
on the layouts and projects every month!"

Do come back on 1st July
to be inspired by the new SK Crew!!

I was able to put in several pics of our
Frappacino break in one layout
We have these phtos taken when
my mom was here for a visit
I had a blast using the Hambly transparencies
on my page as well as the splattering of acrylic paint
on my base"
Issa

Journalling

was spent in the beaches of Laiya, Batangas
It was always exciting to bond with the boys
Tattoo session with Luigi

you would tell us that you have grown
and really for this!"
Michelle

"Sean had his birthday at Skytrex last month
Eric took so many wonderful photos of him
and hence this sketch is perfect for me
to put all the photos together
I have chose to make a messy layout
and love how I could add on so many
embellishments and making it very boyish layout"
Vivi

"There are no words to say
but your existance has keep us alive
You are the key to our happiness
Let this moment stay forever"
Wendy

"The kids love helping out in the garden,
and when it is time to harvest the vegies
it is even so
Potato picking is super exciting

what you are going to find
Tiny baby potatoes through to
giant alien mutations
sooo much fun!"

and most of all,
it has taught me how to have FUN!!"
Issa

Journalling :
"A day in the beach
is just like another day in a life of a mom!
We play together, we listen to each other,
we bond like siblings or friends,
we hug to show warmth and love,
and best of all, you let me be your Mommy!!
You are both so precious to me,
that you made me what I am right now

Michelle

"A day in the life of me is a pretty hectic one
I shuffle in and out of the house
doing household chores like cooking and the laundry
whilst driving around like F1 driver
navigating the very clogged up streets of KL
I try to sneak in any time in between to scrap
and to go online which is bliss to me
I resent people call me JUST A MOM
I am a domestic engineer, excuse me!!
Do hear me roar!! hehehe"
Vivi

SK Ultimate Scrapper - Season 2

It was a blast and suspense weekend
over at SK Forum
The FiESTa was at the max when it was down
with 4 scrappers at the Ultimate Scrapper Challenge
It was not easy to scrap under pressure
but the ladies did an awesome job!!!
I would like to take the opportunity
to thank all the scrappers at SK Forum
to make the Ultimate Scrapper Season 2 possible!!
THANK YOU!!!

Here are the final entries :
Challenge was to do a mini album by applying
all the other challenges that they had done earlier

Rowee's album

"For the whole page I incorporate the technique of embossing
using my cuttlebug embossing folder
Cut manually my 8x11 chipboard to a circle a bit bigger than a cd
Adhere a pp. and distressed it with a black ink on the sides
I applied all 4 themes from challenge 1-4
I used black and white photo
I also used my embossing technique which I did on challenge 4
I cut my photo with decorative scissors
and mat it with black as for challenge 3
And lastly (for challenge 1) I scrap an album of my family
because they are my source of inspirations
why I scrap and never been able to stop"

Yatie's album

"It's a 6x6 7Gypsies board album.
Instead of using pp for background, I blended distress inks,
stamped with various types of ink pads and embossed certain images on it.
Other materials are flowers, lace trims, vintage wordings,
chipboard letters (sanded for a distressed look),
stickers, a metal key, grungeboard keyhole and swirlie,
crystal swirlies and some ribbons.
There's journaling from challenge 1,
black and white photos from challenge 2,
a theme to the album from challenge 4,
no rub ons from challenge 3"

Tessah's album

"Since we are celebrating NSD and Earth Day,
I decided to recycle and focus on scrapbooking
and my life in doing the mini album
Pages are made from toilet paper rolls
I used the embossing technique using a cuttlebug then inked the paper
Stamping the photo with a rubber stamp using an acrylic paint
I used the crakle paint on acrylic technique
I altered chipboards in 2 ways - using glitters and diamond glaze
I use the felt quilting & hand stitching technique on my cover
Masking technique on my last page
Picture bracelet technique on the chain hanging on my mini..
those are pics of my works for the ultimate scrappers
Most of the embellies here are almost handmade by me"

Liza's album

"I used "Simple Pleasures" and "Love" for family as my theme.
From thh challenges we did, I applied the following:
I used 1 CS and 1 PP except for one page
I used B&W elements for 1 page
I used a whimsical design as border on one of my page
I used my ATC as added embellishment for the entire mini album
I mainly used edge distressing on my mini.
The masking can be seen on the ATC."

Before the mini album challenge,
the four "daredevils" had created these lovely creations
Feast yourself with their awesome creations.
