even preparing the kids for a new school year!!

We are feeling the whole FesTeE spirit at Scrappin Kids this month.
Check out our fun activities this FesTeE December!

Do join us!!

FesTeE CHALLENGE #3

We hope that everyone had fun diggin for the 1st smile photo
of their little one and scraped about it for our previous challenge!!
Here's our FesTeE December challenge.

X'mas is all about exchanging gifts and wishes.
Scrappin Kids Residence Designers decided to swap
pictures of their little ones and to come up with a layout.

The challenge this month is to do a layout
of your little one with their name as a title.

Easy isn't it??
It's FesTeE December after all.....

Lets scrap and enjoy the process!!

Scrappin Kids
is proud to announce our
Esteemed and Extremely Talented December Guest Designer
Iris Babao Uy Iris is from The Philippines and she is a mother of a beautiful lil girl, Nicole.
She is currently designing for October Afternoon, Bad Girls Kit, Scraplovers and ScrapBukan.
Her Gorgeous work recently landed on the covers of the Jan 08 issue of Memory Makers.

"I'm 33 years old, married to a wonderful man named Bryan,
blessed with a daughter turning 3 this December 11,
and blessed with the opportunity to document memories
both for my family and for myself"

Here's her take on this challenge.

Nicole
by Iris
"The picture was taken by a photographer friend of mine
who needed a model for a photo shoot.
I thought it was the perfect opportunity to have nice studio shots of Nicole so we went ahead with it.
However, come photo shoot day, she would not go anywhere
near the studio lights without crying.
I was pretty frustrated because I did not have any good studio photos
of her for the layouts that was due.
Then she cried and hugged me, and I remembered...
I started scrapping because of her and it should remain that way.
I knew I had to be a mother to her, not a scrapper in desperate need of photos :)"

and here are the lovely layouts by our Residence Designers

Aaqil
by Jasmin

Journalling :
"Dearest Aaqil,
* Know that you are truly blessed
* Know that your presence in your parents' lives is a blessing
* Know that YOU are the one they have been waiting for"

"Scrapping somebody else's photo can be pretty daunting and nerve-wrecking.
This is my 2nd time doing a photo swap and I won't deny that
I got a bit stuck trying to figure out how to do a suitable layout.
But once I was in it, it was just a matter of going with the flow.
Scrapping a different subject than my usual ones
gave me an opportunity to scrap from a different perspective.
When I scrapped this layout, I pretended that I was Liza
(esp. when I was doing the journaling)
But I did put in my own touch to the layout."

When I Grow Up
by Leena

"When I 1st received this photo of Adam from Wati,
I knew right away what I'll do with it!!
Adam is totally an adorable boy and
it's so easy to create this LO of him, looking all dreamie and I knew the title
"When I Grow Up" would suits this page best!
I had fun doing up this page as I've always did for my boy
and since Ethan & Adam is only a year difference in age,
it was pretty much easy for me.
I would love this kind of swapping challenge anytime & I would do it again!"

Ethan
by Liza

Journalling :
"No others will give up everything for you
other than your Parents"

"I had so much fun doing Ethan's layout
as I love his angel face.
As I was doing this, I kept thinking how precious
Ethan must be to his Parents.
He will definately make his Parents proud when he grows up!"

Nadya
by Wati

Journalling :
"Nadya, you started to suck your fingers
at a very early age.
Up till now, you still have that habit with you.
Auntie Wati hope to meet you one day
and you could play with Adam!
mmmmm.....maybe you both could hook up!!!"

"When I received Nadya's photo from Jasmin,
I was a little worried.
I normally scrap boy's layout, so it was challenging for me.
With such a cute photo of Nadya, I hope I did justice to it."

Do link your layout (on your blog) in the comments section

Smile for Mama
by Jasmin

Journalling :
"It's not easy to catch a pic of a baby when he/she is giving his/her 1st SMILE!
But looking through your pics, Mama foun this photo of you smilling.
It may not be your 1st smile but it's definately your 1st PICTURE of your SMILE!!

~ Always smile thru your life my boy ~

Love, Mama"

"For me, coming up with a picture for this layout wasn't easy as I had no photos of any of my 4 kids showing off their 1st smiles. But thank goodness, I found this one of my son, Syafiee smiling for the camera. Although this layout may not necessarily potray his first smile, but it is his 1st picture of him smiling.
Syafiee is now 9 years old coming on 10 this January, that explain the 'aged' look of the photo!"

S is for Smile
by Leena
"Ethan was only home 2 days after birth and was whisked away to the hospital again for a severe jaundice and had to be warded for a few days. I was really sad that he was not at home by my side. So, when I visited him in the hospital, he was all excited to see me & to hear my voice. When I cooed & fussed over him, this was the 1st smile he gave to me, with a slight wink!! I know he's going to be a lady killer when he grows up!!"

Smile
by Liza

Journalling :
"Remembering your 1st smile always warms my heart. I'm glad and am thankful that I was there to enjoy the Precious Moments!! I Love You!!"

"I totally love this photo of Aaqil when he was only a few days old. I didn't do a multi photo layout this time as I wanted to focus the attention onto Aaqil's precious smile"

I Love that Smile, Seriously
by Wati

Journalling :
"Just by looking at your smile, it definately make my day!!

So are you READY for this??!!! Cause we know WE ARE!!!

Were you happy, excited, nervous, anxious, calm, in pain?

This challenge is all about your feelings….your emotions……

Looking forward to receiving all of you lovely submissions.

Here’s ours :

My First
by Jasmin

Journalling :
“You will always be Mama’s First. The first I felt kicking in my tummy. The first feeling anticipating your arrival. Mama’s first as a parent. What lies ahead of you will also be Mama’s first.”

“Doing this LO for the very 1st time for Scrappin Kids makes me recall my first time I found out I was pregnant with my first-born, Nabilah. Everything was first time for me & my beloved hubby. It was really a mix of emotions for me – nervous, excited, will I make a good parent and all the feelings which are part-and-parcel of a first experience of motherhood. Now, Nabilah is 11 years old and whatever she will be doing in her life ahead, I will also feel it for the first time as her mother.”

A New Life Is Born
By Leena

"My DH & I were elated when we found out I was with child 3yrs ago! So, when we went for my 1st scan, which was the day I found out I was pregnant, we were both excited & thrilled!! This is the photo taken at that moment & I asked DH, "Huh, how come it's just a small dot?" When we first saw the scan of our child, truly delighted & it was love at first sight!"

Blessed
by Liza

Journalling :
“You came into our lives when we so desperately needed you.Holding you in my arms filled the void in my heart forever!”

“This layout ‘Blessed’ was my 1st emotion felt on the day when we received our lil bundle of joy. It’s a blessing for us to have him in our lives when we so desperately wanted and needed a child. These pictures were taken when Aaqil was only 2 days old, the day we received him.”

Reality Bites
by Wati

Journalling :
"I was all nervous and delighted when you were born. But I know for sure I will try all my best to give you the love, guidance you need!"

“The moment I heard Adam’s 1st cries, reality started to sink in! I was worried, happy, nervous and all other sort of mixed feelings. But with Chris beside me, he reassured me that we will be fine raising him up. I am so blessed to have Adam and I still feel that way till now. This photo is taken few minutes after Adam was born.”

We would LOVE to know about how you feel. Do link your layout (on your blog) in the comments section or send us a copy by email to mailto:scrappinkids4@yahoo.com.sg

Introduction

Scrappin Kids is where we share our layouts of our lil ones.
Sometimes there are too many things to scrap about that we tend to forget to scrap them. Kids grow really fast, so it is definately hard to keep up with them.

Well here at Scrappin Kids, every month, we will have a topic to scrap about. Our Residence Designers will be sharing their layouts and we would love to see your creations as well!! Once in a while, we will be giving away RAKs!

To celebrate the launch of Scrappin Kids, we are giving away a RAK to a lucky scrapper who post a comment here. A draw will be held on 30th Sept 2007 and winner will be announce on 1st Oct 2007. International scrappers are welcome to join.

So do come back here on 1st Oct 2007 for the 1st Challenge at Scrappin Kids :)

Residence Designers

Let's get to know a bit more about our residence designers.
Jasmin Brahim

"Hi dear scrappers!! I'm Jasmin from Brunei. I'm a working wife and a mum of 4 darling kids. Scrapbooking was introduced to me in 2005 by my cousin but this addiction didn't kick off till August 2006. And now, I'm hooked for life!

I started scrapbooking as I know that this is one outlet where I can tell my children how special each of them are to me. I am able to journal my thoughts and my message to them. Moreover, I know that these memories will be preserved well. My children will inherit these 'works' of love and these I pray will be passed down from generation to generation.
Besides doing scrapbook layouts, I've also created cards. I am always learning along the way and trying to find ways to bring my scrapbooking to another level.

I'm so excited to be part of this wonderful team and really love to learn & share from all the wonderful scrappers out there."

Leena Loh

"Hi! My name is Leena Loh. I’m 34 years old full-time working mother to a wonderful 3 year old boy, Ethan and I’m married to my best friend & loving husband, Rainer, of 6 years. I also have 2 Jack Russell Terrier, Belle & Piggie & they’re part of the family!

I have been scrapping only for the past 9 months when I chance upon a local scrapbooking store & have never look back ever since. I’m so passionate about my new found interest that I’m always scouring for inspiration from my family & friends. They are ever so supportive of my passion for scrapbooking especially my husband, who has been ‘tolerating’ my late nights in my scrap room.

Scrapbooking has given me the pleasure of relieving me from a hard day at work. It has also given me the opportunity to bring out the creative side off me which I never knew I had. My years of traveling in my early years have also given me tons of inspiration I need to pursue my interest. And most importantly, scrapbooking helps me preserve the memories for my future generation.

I also love reading, photography, inline skating, spending time with my family & enjoy having friends over at my place (they love my cooking!). I hope to share & inspire people with my work."

Liza Yet

"Hi I'm Liza and am absolutely thrilled to be a part of Scrappin Kids.
I am a full time working mom to a very active 3 year old son, who is the subject of my layouts.
I started scrapbooking 3 years ago and have been addicted to it ever since. I love to do multi pictures layouts as I like it's element of "telling a story". I am amazed by all the wonderful women, who have become my good friends, that I've made through this hobby."

Wati Basri

"Hei everyone! I'm Wati from Singapore. Wife to Chris for nearly five years and mother to Adam for 18 months :)
Started scrapping in Apr 2006, after wanting to start an album for Adam. Wasn't sure how to start, but happen to chance upon a local scrapbooking store. And the rest is history.
I would normally scrap about Adam, but lately tends to scrap about myself and also layouts of my wedding day. I find that scrapbooking is very relaxing and it is also a good source for me to pour my feelings.
I'm really glad that Scrappin Kids is born. Thanks to the other 3 ladies to make this work *hugz*"
